and I wasn't saying you were. I was just getting on how you were being a bit harsh in my opinion. You did write in your description of TD "Almost shot for shot a remake" those are powerfull words. Zinda vs oldboy is a greater example. I think both are great films, but the departed took the story somewhere that I related to and enjoyed more. Where as I could see how IA could do so for you. Almost like how I'm a Charles Bronson fan vs. someone who is a Clint eastwood fan. I remember how pissed I was about House of a 1,000 corpses being so much like TCM. Now I realize I love both for different reasons. Sometimes making something from insperation is a more slippery slope than completely going for originality. A reproduction has far more loyal critics than a new flavour.

Which Prequel are we Talking about?

The Comment had to do with this small line in a previous response

Wikipedia zinda for a laugh any of you asia cinema fans. Those guys are getting soooo sued.

I would never suugest that a large director or studio for that matter would just "lift" a script. Not what I was saying at all.

But Scorcese gives props to Infernal Affairs, it's not like he just lifted it. And the script is new...you underestimate Monahan BIG TIME

What a fantastic battle! KYTV's passion has inspired me to watch Infernal Affairs again. Took some finding, but I have it. Perhaps I'll get stoned with me lady and watch it this weekend after we see Sweeney Todd at the theatre. She's never seen IA, so it's a good excuse to watch it.

I hate to be the "anti-IA" guy in here, though, since it's one of my favorite movies. When I first saw it I felt like I was hit in the head with a polo mallet, but in a good way. As someone who loves good movies I loved IA.

Anyway, I'm going to dinner. I look forward to more of KYTV's movie battles. Good show, old bean.

the prequel was awful, awful, awful

I agree with your point of view. I'm a purist for the original film. The storyline was altered slight probably due to cultural difference. I must say Infernal Affairs had better acting. There were scenes where the actors didn't need to say a word to portray what they're going through.

98% of what you see/hear/read on a daily basis is copied from somewhere else, either whole or in part. In fact the vast majority of movies that get released are re-makes. Like it or not, that's the way it is.
