I like that aspect of the city, the ability to blend in and be left alone. I can also look up on the subway, or in a coffeeshop, and see many women of different sizes, shapes and dispositions...it's wonderful. The country makes me nervous.
Good thing about NYC it is that people will leave you alone if you want to be left alone. Problem is that if you are feeling talkative and want to chat with some random person on the sidewalk, a New Yorker they might run. They can be germaphobic towards friendliness. LOL
You have nice people and assholes in both the city and the country. The reason I choose a village is because the people tend to be more hospitable and less wary of other people. At least from what I have seen. If you don't eat dinner with someone because you are not hungry, they might get offended. You had better accept gifts. ;)

Chicago is the best!
I'm an ass in the city or country.

and this is where you get played by the Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
My wife and I went to NYC and were very surprised at just how friendly the locals were. The horror stories never came to fruition.
