I sent it in during a period of confidence and good humor. Now I'm in the grips of something terrible. I'm detoxing off of narcotics, and I also had a nervous breakdown. Spent the last week in the hospital.

No more the dead resisting,
base want replaces hope
Hosts of armies move persisting
to an romantic misanthrope

How easily bold dreams subside
Outwardly, so strong
Within a rotting frame, un-eyed
A hoax? Her lie? His wrong?

Perpetrated not by me
But one I used to know
Wonders, dreamed, not to be
Like rocks the seeds I sow

Like rocks in that they sit in soil
Elemental and dark-pure
Here no water for a boil
Here nothing green allure

These stones, however, were heavier made
with need and godly expectation
Nothing this crop could do but fade
Against the hands of propagation
