Israel wants Iran off the face of the earth just as much as Iran wants Israel gone. Iran is just more vocal about it. Israel's nukes are the worst kept secret of the last 20 years.

Perhaps to a degree DW, and I appreciate your input, altho I may not agree sometimes, it does help me think more about an issue. Question. If Iran has nuke capabilities in the next few years, do you honestly think they would hesitate to use them on Israel. And if Israel is hit, the US and our allies are in it and welcome to WWIII. This coming from a nation that says Israel must be wiped from the earth. It is an extremist govt which holds a lot of cards right now, and that I think is the biggest issue in the world, talking human life here. Altho the shitty economy has me more and more agitated everyday. Question for you.....why are you so tuff on McCain, just becuz he's a pub and you think he's in bed with Bush(he is not). McCain was very uncomfortable getiing GW's endorsement, hell who wouldn't....but just give me some details...in my opinion the bile you spill about McCain is unjustified.......
You're being manipulated, Matmico. Some of our elected leaders, mostly Republicans, put that terrorist demon out there and expect you to live in fear. In Israel, they have terrorist attacks all the time, but they learned that changing how you live just serves the terrorists' desires.
The threat from China is very real and is actually happening. The terrorist threat is also real, but it is blown way out of proportion by people who NEED the threat of terrorism to manipulate their constituents.
Get the right people to monitor for terrorist activity, and leave it at that. Meanwhile, raise taxes and address the massive economic failure of this country. Chew gum and walk at the same time.
....as bad as the China situation is, I have to take instantaneous death of 100,000's as a slightly bigger fear......
Until the day they're running infomercials with that sort of message, the trailer park nation will remain ignorantly blissful. USA! USA! *bluufghhaah* Excuse me.
Also consider that China is spending, and has been for decades, hundreds of billions of dollars on modernization of military equipment, submarines and warships. They'll be pounding out an air craft carrier soon, and then another and then another. They're already doing that with submarines.
And we owe them $250 billion outright. AND we rely on them for cheap labor. If China cuts us off from her own labor pool, and calls back the money we owe them, we're done. It won't happen like that, but they have that power.
I predict that Taiwan will fall to China within the next twenty years, and be turned into "Chinese Taipei." And nobody will be able to stop them. Too many troops, too much equipment, too much money. The age of America as the world's only superpower will officially be over. It's already over, but most people don't realize that.

Yeah, the economy is really tanking. I read The Economist (it's very interesting despite the dry name) and follow economic indicators, including the NYSE. Oil is always interesting, given the jumps it has taken in the last 30 years.
Republicans seem less inclined to pick on Carter these days. But it's hard on Republicans...what issue do they have? Even the Army and White House are at odds regarding oversight.

and we can't even keep the social security beneficiaries ! and we're trying to bail out people who got high interest loans and can't afford them ? And the price of oil keeps climbing.
and the value of a dollar keeps dropping ! and america doesn't EXPORT anything to other countries. everything we get is imported !!!
