a skull I did from scratch. Will make em out of plastic, stone, and etc. when I cast it. Fun stuff
VS
Finished severed head
Laytex skinned foam filled head. I make these all the time. Skinning, painting, foaming, teeth, hair, and blood patterns

Note to self: NEVER piss of Killer Wolf.
Nice job, bro!
Thanks :) I deffinately feel like I've found my calling, and it sounds alot like the Munster's theme :P
wow, you're talented. Seriously.
The heads and props are for a theme park, and we are also big in the haunt market for halloween. Halloween season for us started in january hehe.
Thanks man, It is very dificult to give it that multi layered real skin look with flat toned laytex. Gelatin is great for transparency, but it melts easy under bright lites. It's great for stage and short tv shots though. Gelatin bodies look very real. To get that with Laytex the process is much more complicated, but it is very cost effective. Then you could do it in sylicone rubber if you had alot of money. Which can look even really than gelatin, and it lasts forever. I've played around with sylicone animatronics in other artists shop, and they're neat because it's like a real little creature sitting there. The new brains motors, and mechanics they're putting in those things are amazing.
Yup, we do have some head with their eyes open. I have fun and turn the heads into characters sometimes. I made one that looks like Oates from Haul and Oates. Also another that looks like a dead crack whore with mouth herpes and her eyes are all fucked up like she was beaten before death.
That one on the right as all of my work comes from a real post mortem pic of a body chopped up and in a duffle bag. I did some air brushing of shadows on the head first before I skinned it to make it look like the muscle was decayed and caved in.
The 8mm stuff is just something a bud and I have been talkign about. He's into directing and filming. I'm into all areas of make-up and efx and I like stunt work/acting. After he gets his student film that he's entrenched in finished we're going to be submitting scripts around and shit. I'm always up for hearing people's ideas. Especially when finding a producr has been done.
My boss and I were talking yesturday about why it's becoming so scarce with indi films now, and I really think it's because there aren't as many risk takers around anymore. To make great art and do what you want you have to starve sometimes.

I think the fangs came out very well. Since it's a skull, I imagine gums involved, so it looks great. The severed head had to be harder work, and it looks really great, KW. You have a passion for your art, too, and you work your ass off, so all the elements are in place for you to be a master one day.
Thanks for finally showing some of your craftsmanship. Do you ever make a head that has it's eyes open? Maybe one pupil pointing one way, the other another. What do you have planned for 8mm work? I think I have a great low budget script, if you ever get green lit for your own project. I'm thinking you'll direct one day. Any interest in that, or are you a special effects dude at heart?
Really outstanding work. I know it's not easy. The skull looks like something from Fright Night. Why are you making so many fake heads?
DAMN!
Thanks I do try to keep in anatomical even if it is something that's mainly used for an accent piece. Alot of that has to do with sculpting natural dents. A skull looks fake to me when it's perfectly smooth and symetrical. The fangs are pretty over sized, but I did that because of the look of it. I want it to be a bit dramatic and fierce. I can't wait to cast it up so I can sculpt skin over it and see what my little guy's face looks like. I learned how to do that from the discovery channel specials on mummies and cave men. Then I did some extra research online and with other artists I know. I bet he comes out looking like a beady eyed cave man pigmy. Then I'm gonna skulpt onto the plastic cast to make a full skull, make a jaw, sculpt a skin, throw in eyes, wires, and make a puppet :P Should be fun for my 8mm stop motion goofing around.
