All of mine are very personal as well. they reinforce traits and qualities I wish to keep strong in my person. Some celebrate the strength in my heritage and the loyalty to friends here and gone. Tattoos aren't for anyone, and that stuff about putting it somehwere "inconspicuous" is just as stupid as getting a massive full sleeve of shit to blaintantly try to fit in the croud. They're both just to show off or add to your bag of tricks to get laid or be "interesting". I especailly love it when people get massive sleeves that are elaborate and really stylish. They look great technically, and asthetically, but you can't see any heart inside of it. it just looks like a really nice screen print on some mall T-shirt. How is it any better to get a "safe" tiny heart above your ass crack just to say you have a tattoo? I don't get people who look at tatoos like a sky diving trip. Like it's something you do as a cool, crazy, and otu there thing to do. Tattoos are with you for life, and it's something I take seriously.
Personally I wont get full sleeves. I like the look of skin and ink. Next I'm getting a tatt for one of my best friends who passed recently. I haven't gotten it yet not only because of cash, but also because like with anything like that it's a bit hard to choak it up and do it.
People give tribal tatts so much shit and constantly talk about ow "they meen nothing". Look it up sometime on real tribal tatts. There is a language within the flow, and like any language it can be added to and brought along if done properly. Maori tribals are amazing looking. I wouldn't have any because it's not part of who I am, but I understand being into a culture and practie enough to adopt their of abdornment.
Anyone who wants to put down on it can really just got the hell away. Who is anyone to descide the worth and character of another person on site without any proof of good or bad? That kind of sizing up and judgement is what animals do. Humanity needs to rise above that in all ways in order to progress in a healthy manner.
I totally agree that tattoos just for the sake of having them are ridiculous. There are so many people who get tats just because they think that they make them look cool. My tattoo, on the other hand has quite a bit of meaning. The lettering spells Power, Wisdom, and Courage which are the three virtues that I view as being the most important, and the design is symbolic of my darker side, thus the fangs.
There is nothing I hate more on a guy than a tribal tattoo, or tattoos in general.
Maybe one in an inconspicuous location is okay, but it has to have meaning behind it.
And no, not the typical "Hey, I'm a douche with a tribal tattoo on my arm of which I have no clue what the origin or meaning behind it is, besides it making me 'look cool'."
That's almost as bad as Japanese or Chinese tattoos for guys who don't know the language, or the typical trashy and slutty "tramp stamp" tattoo girls plaster on their lower backs of butterflies or stars, or anything equally annoying.
sure you can, if you stay with the original of tribal and get it done relatively soon after the original. In fact, tribals are a little easier than bringing larger pieces of other art together. You don't get that clustered look, just one big design.
tribal tats do nothing for me, 'm much more into 'real' designs, pictures, waves, clouds, fire etc i also think that 'rea'l stuff is easier to work into a larger peice, if you get a large tribal on your bicep or whatever, i dont think you could really extend it to the forearm to make a sleave without it looking a bit shitty,

BTW, that's me on the right. And I draw my own tats...
