We're OD'ing on the racism topic this week, there are 3 active battles taking place where commentary on racism is the driving force. That fact alone suggests it's a bigger problem than most people are readily willing to admit these days.

Primarily due to the fact that, and I'm purely guessing here, but I can imagine that as big of a pain in the ass probation was, it doesn't cast a shadow on being anally raped.

I've heard this phone booth vandalism story mentioned before, AC, and each time I think that every person should do something like that at least once in life. An itch to raise hell, scratched at the expense of a phone booth.

Besides, phone booths are just asking for it.

During a mental breakdown of sorts years ago, I called the cops from a payphone and said, "I hear shouting and murder afoot at the CVS, which is actually not such a bad thing...the checkout line is a mile long this time of day." I know that's what I said because I said it, I heard the tape at the police station, and I read the transcript of the interrogation. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. I wasn't high, just insane. Lots of psych meds, but not high. It's no pay phone attack, but it was pretty reckless and stupid.

I was arrested. Danced around in jail for a night, got sodomized, and went to probation for three years. Well, I wasn't sodomized. Really.

Don't underestimate the unspeakable pain in the ass power of probation.

a night in jail? do tell! I didn't hear the racist comment that apparently inspired this little battle, but I was at the party, and saw the outcome. "I don't cotton to racism" is what D said and then tried to get up and walk away. Everyone was stoned.

I work with mostly liberal, open minded people, but there is one huge exception. I do the ignore thing. It's easier.

I used to get mad, but now I just turn the person off in my mind, and try to find someone with more civilized point of view. Like Lilac said, I know I'm not going to change them, and most likely, I'm not going to learn anything from them. For instance, I work with a guy who hates blacks, gays, and women. I could either argue or co-exist and ignore him. I chose the latter. My anger's gotten me a night in jail already, I don't need that again.
