The Simpsons
The longest-running American sitcom and animated program. There isn't a whole lot to say about the show except that it's original skits inspired many more television shows. Personally, The Simpsons is my favorite animated show / sitcom ever.
Family Guy
Definitely not the most original sitcom created, but for sure one of the funniest. Even though there is another animated family much like the Griffins, this show is very well made with funny skits to keep the audience laughing.

Simpsons really suck lately, they ruled a few years ago...then they just fell off. Family Guy is HELLarious.
Though The Simpsons have done damned near every skit possible before any other cartoon sitcom, there's something about a talking baby and dog that wins me over.
