I saw a Civil War re-enactment organized by the Green Valley Ladies' Auxiliary, of the second Battle of Bull Run. I'm good with primates, given my college major (evo bio), and I remember that the Union was represented by Miss Waldron Red Colobus monkeys (which were "eaten into extinction" by 2002) and Uacari monkeys were used to represent the Confederacy. Although I'm pretty sure that they were just using fat hamsters.
So it has been done.
